I am sorry to inform you that Carol Jean Fortney Switzer succumbed to the ravages of cancer on March 10, 2011. She was my wife of 44 years. I knew and dated her from 1963 until or marriage on June 17, 1967. She was the reason for any success I had in this world. She could light up a room when she entered. Besides me, her lost and angry husband, she leaves a son, Neil, and three wonderful grandsons, Jeffrey - 11, Zachary - 8, and Charlie - 4. She is buried at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin, IL.

I knew Carol as a neighbor in Oak Park. We only lived a block apart and while we never dated I would think of her frequently. She befriended me on Facebook and she impressed me with her range of friends and accoomplishments. I am so sorry for your great loss.

Carol was my best friend from kindergarten at Lincoln School through OPRF. Brownies, Girl Scouts, Kickball, Softball, passing notes in the hall....so many memories. The world has lost one classy lady!Joseph Morici
