Obituary published on Legacy.com by Beck Funeral Home - Clayton on Feb. 18, 2025.
Lewis Douglass Piggott was born in Chicago April 17, 1944 and passed in Gainesville Hospital, Georgia on February 17, 2025 after a long battle with cancer. His parents were Jean and Lew Piggott. Jeanie was born in Scotland and Lew in Mitchell, South Dakota. Doug had one sister, Patty, and she passed several years ago survived by her husband Dick Reichard, and daughters Patty (Denny) and Vicki (Ross).
Doug was raised in Oak Park, Illinois and attended Oak Park/River Forest High School. He subsequently attended the Illinois Institute of Technology where he acquired his Industrial Engineering degree. He initially worked for Johnson & Johnson as an engineer and went on to a career in management consulting with KPMG Peat Marwick, Computer Science Corp. and his own firm. He recently said that for years when people asked him what he did and he replied supply chain, they looked confused and now way after he retired they know what it is.
Doug and Sue met in Chicago when they were both dating other people. They became friends during activities of a large group and eventually saw the error of their ways and got together. They married on March 3, 1973 so would have celebrated their 52d anniversary next month. They agreed their marriage was the best thing they had ever done.
