Harry Sterling

Harry (Cy) was my first real boyfriend. We met at Holmes School (now Percy Julian) and we were "a couple" until sometime in our Freshman year at O.P. He used to wear his hair like Elvis and I thought that was rather cool. He also was a drummer in a rock band and that was cool too. He also played freshman football. His father was President of the local credit union and I remember that there was some talk that Cy would take over the business. I remember him as being rather quiet and sweet. I am sorry that he died too soon. Diana Sizer Shaw

Cy was the drummer in our band, organized by Bruce and Ron Svoboda of the class of '60, the Deuces.  It was hardly a rock band, but rather a dance band playing standards for sock hops.  Also, Holmes is still named Holmes.  Hawthorne was renamed Julian.  Finally, Diana, I think you grew up two houses south of us on Forest Avenue.

Cy was a terrific guy, with a great laugh.  He was devastated by the failure of his marriage.  I don't know the cause of death, but he was not a happy camper in his later years.  Nice guy.  Too sad.
