She fell last week breaking her knee replacement and femur badly. She had surgery Monday to repair the leg. During surgery she went into cardiac arrest multiple times. The surgery was stopped without completion. We kept her comfortable. She rallied Wednesday with all of the family joining her throughout the day. She was able to whisper “I love yous” and we got to share the same. She laughed a little and smiled at our shared stories. She got calm and very quiet yesterday. This morning her blood pressure dropped and she passed peacefully while I was holding her hand. Her wish was to not be resuscitated any more.
Thank you for your compassion.

Leni and I have maintained our friendship since high school. I loved celebrating her July birthday at her beautiful home on Lake Mundelein. I feel so sad about her fall and will miss her quick wit and infectious smile. She helped so many children read by providing the perfect book for each child's reading level and interest. RIP, dear friend!

Leni and I went thru grammar school together. As went on to Junior High and then to OPRF we all moved in different directions.
A few years back when Sharon and I hosted a Christmas party for all the alums, Leni and her husband came from Mundelein (a long drive to Downers grove) to attend. Leni and I spent about 90 minutes together talking of grammar school and all the others who we went to school with. It was a wonderful 90 minutes.
Rest in peace Leni, I was one of the lucky ones to have met you..

Leni and I were in the same homeroom. I remember her easy smile and ever present kindness.
