KEWANEE – Lawrence G. “Larry” Emond, 74, of Kewanee, died at 4:55 p.m., Monday, May 13, 2019 at the Kewanee Care Home.

Cremation will be accorded and no services will be held. Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee is in charge of arrangements.

He was born August 13, 1944 in Oak Park, IL, the son of Wilfred and Dorothy Emond. He married Patricia “Pat” Gillespie on December 18, 1996 in Cambridge. Survivors include his wife, Pat, two daughters, Patricia Burns and Christina Byers and five grandsons; Sean (Krysten) Kline, Trevor and Brandon Burns and David and Jonathan Byers. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Larry had worked as a fireman and paramedic in Oak Park and then as a fireman and EMT in Monmouth. He later became State Fire Marshall until his retirement. He was an animal lover and enjoyed fishing, hunting and watching movies.

Larry sat behind me in homeroom for three years and entertained me every with his antics day as I entered Mr. Siler's classroom. I am sure his family will miss his engaging personality. So sorry to hear of his passing.
